Restoring a Treasure
Strand Theatre
Old Forge
Back in the 1940s
and 50s in East
Utica there was
a market on every corner. Today, William Milham, at Milham's Market on Rutger St., carries on a 3rd generation tradition, although he's had to adapt to the changing community. He says onions are a part of almost every meal for Russians and Bosnians. He's sold 15, 000 pounds this season!

The beautiful Strand Theatre in Old Forge will live on for future generations thanks to the love and dedication of Bob Card and Helen Zyma of Old Forge. The theatre has been restored inside and out. In celebration, Bob and Helen invited the community to a showing of The Majestic.

Road Trip to Deerfield
At the top of Smith Hill in Deerfield is WKTV, broadcasting from this site since it went on the air in 1949. Many people, including Bill Worden, remember Lyle Bosley, who was both announcer and weatherman on WKTV. There were
many popular personalities, including Hank Brown,
Dick Clark, and Bozo the Clown.
Bill Worden shares his memories of his 40 years in broadcasting, including the death of Elvis Presley and the day he almost caught on fire when a studio bulb blew!
Dick Clark got his start at WKTV

Road Trip to Beaches of the Mohawk Valley
Click here visit our page about the beaches of the Mohawk Valley
There are many beautiful beaches just minutes from the Mohawk Valley. This week we visited Baker's Beach on Canadarago Lake and Glimmerglass State Park on Otsego Lake
Baker's Beach is located on the Northwest shore of Canadarago Lake just south of Richfield Springs on Rt 28. It is a great place to launch a boat or go swimming and fishing. Be sure to bring your water sandels.
Glimmerglass State Park is located ocated on Otsego Lake has a beautiful swimming area and bath house. You can see a covered bridge and historic Hyde Hall on you visit. The Glimmerglass Cafe is operated by Danny's Main Street Market out of Cooperstown. The Market is know for fresh baked bread and fresh brewed coffee.
Our tour of "F.I.M. Country" continues in Franfort this week. F also stands for for "Food, glorious Food!" I guess that can be our theme this week -from our tour of Granny's Kitchen and Al-Occasion Cheesecake and even a tour of fine dining for bovine at Brown's Feed.
Barry Thaler, VP of Operations, takes us on a tour of the 174, 000 square feet of Granny's Kitchens
Richard can't resist a fresh donut coming down the conveyor. Granny's Kitchens produces over 1.2 million donuts a day -they'll never miss this one!
When we visited Frankfort, we couldn't help but notice the tall grain elevators of Brown's Feed. We had to find out what it was about. Here, PhD Dairy Nutritionists formulate feed for area dairy farmers.
Everyone in Franfort told us you haven't had cheesecake until you've had Al's. We stopped in to meet Al and find out if it was true. It was! Believe it or not, you can get it sugar-free, too! 107 East Main, Frankfort (315) 894-6448
