This week we discover some peaceful retreats from the stress
of the modern world. We visit the Rutger Park mansions in
Utica -although they are in the middle of the city, they feel set
apart and in a different world. Brookwood Garden, just outside
of Cooperstown, also feels light years away from the bustling
village teeming with baseball fans. And atop the rolling hills
of Colgate is a spiritual retreat unlike any in the world.

Thank you for traveling with us,
                                                                Lance and Sharry

The Barge Canal Coffee Co., better known to the Colgate and Hamilton communities as "The Barge," opened in 1996 on Lebanon Street. It was positioned right on the Chenango Canal and you can still see the frames of the original windows through which supplies were loaded and unloaded off of the passing boats. The Barge serves a combination of coffee, hot and cold drinks, sweets, bagels, and entertainment.
