Thank you for letting us know what shows you wanted to see on our annual "Thanksgiving Leftovers" show. The most requested shows were Canajoharie's "boiling pot," our trip to the area's beaches and our visit with folk artist Denise Allen.
We enjoyed showing off our beautiful Mohawk Valley to our guests and relatives in town for Thanksgiving from the South and East Coasts. We were thankful for the stretch of beautiful weather as well!

Next week: we visit Deerfield and the early years of WKTV.

Thanks for watching, Lance and Sharry Whitney

Robert, Sr. and Paul Marshall
There is still a place where shop owners know their customer by name. The Star Bakery bakes to their customers' taste. Robert Marshall, Sr. and his sons, Paul and Robert, Jr. operate the bakery at 1212 Catherine St. in East Utica.
There are many beautiful beaches just minutes from the Mohawk Valley. This week we visited Boonville Pool and Hinckley Reservoir.
Hitting the Beaches of the Mohawk Valley
Our most requested shows were:
The Boonville Pool is a pretty little beach that is free and open to the public with lifeguard monitored beach. Erwin Park is open daily from 8am to 9:30pm. It is located on Rt. 12 in Boonville.
The beach near Trail's End at Hinckley Reservior was known as Beer Can Beach, today it is a popular place for families for swimming, fishing, boating and waterskiing.
Overlooking the dunes at Trail's End Campground Richard reminisces about visiting the beach in his green convertible with his soon-to-be wife. He demonstrates, with a soda can, what was a feat of strength back when cans were made of steel. You can swim and launch your boat at Trail's End Campground, the cost is $7 for parking for the day.
Road Trip to Canajoharie
Canajoharie is Mohawk for "The pot that washes itself," Richard visits this unique natural wonder in the Canajoharie Creek.
One of the last "Dummy" lights still in use.
We enjoy the Village Restaurant's "Garbage Omlette." Richard HAD to press the old-fashioned waitress call button and wound up having to wash dishes!
Wintergreen Park is a beautiful place for picnics and scenic views.
As a child in Brooklyn, DeniseAllen dreamed of living on a ruralfarm. Her dream came true whenshe moved to Palatine Bridge. Herartwork depicts black people
dressed in 19th century working on the farm. Her work is on display at her General Store & Folk Art Gallery in Palatine Bridge. Open 11-3 Tues-Thurs, Sundays by Appt.
