Great Camp Sagamore

Dating from 1897 the Main Lodge at Sagamore is William West Durant's greatest architectural achievement. He actually lived in it until 1901 when he sold Sagamore to Alfred Vanderbilt, the wealthiest young man in America.

Great Camp Sagamore is a National Historic Landmark in the heart of the Adirondacks. It is located on Sagamore Lake in the "forever wild" lands of the Forest Preserve of the Adirondacks
Donna and Captain Dean Pohl named their boat the WW Durant after the man who built Great Camp Sagamore. Captian Pohl built the boat in the style of steamboats that used to tour the lake. Hurry and schedule your lunch or dinner Fall Foliage tour of Raquette Lake aboard the WW Durant.
The Raquette Lake Navigation Co. conducts tours throughout October.
