This week we started our journey through the Sauquoit Valley. We're looking forward to learning more about this area over the next couple weeks. We were invited to attend a meeting of the Town of Paris Historical Society to get a feel for the region. It was standing room only in the former church that is now home to the group. It seems that the members of this region are starting to realize that the community and way of life they take for granted are becoming scarce in our country. On a future episode we will be meeting a young woman farmer who has come back to the region to reclaim that special something that springs from the communities along the Sauquoit Creek.
Thanks for watching and please tell your friends and neighbors about our new 10am timeslot on Utica Cable Channel 11. Thank you.

The close-knit communities that line the Sauquoit Creek are passing their knowledge of their history to the next generation. We met students from Sauquoit Valley Elementary School who were as interested as we were about this area's heritage.
We're going to slow down and travel off of Rt. 8 and into the villages and hamlets in the Sauquoit Valley. The Sauquoit Creek is only 12 miles long, but in that short distance drops 860 feet quite evenly along its whole course. Mills and communities sprang up along its shores. We'll follow the creek from its head near Cassville, then north to Clayville, Sauquoit and Chadwicks.
Young Mr. Knapp discusses with Richard his facination with the Civil War.
You can sense the history of this area as you drive by old farms and homesteads. The pace is slower here and to the locals, that's just fine.
Driving along Larson Road, the steeple of the Baptist Church beckons us into the village of Cassville.
