with Mark Werchowski
A lot has changed since our last visit to Rome. Little Italy is blossoming and gives us an idea of what the area must have been like back during the early canal days. It's a fun neighborhood to go "grazing," sampling bambino olives at Gualteri's, some homemade pasta at Sano's, a pastry at Margy's -or start with dessert first, Margy says its okay!

                         Thanks for traveling with us,

Rome Sand Plains
Rome Sand Plains is one of only a handful of inland pine barrens in the nation, encompassing approximately 16,000 acres within the City of Rome, New York. This natural resource treasure consists of high sand dunes and low peat bogs, along with pine barrens and hardwood forests, meadows and wetlands.
Together with scientists, volunteers, and agency partners, the Nature Conservancy is trying to restore the wild blue lupine in order to support and expand the rare frosted elfin butterfly and eventually to reintroduce the Federally Endangered Karner blue butterfly.
