Utica was once known as "Sin City," the 1950's era is the setting of a new musical currently in rehearsal at Cafe Canole. Produced by Ben DeIorio, it will premiere at Grimaldi's Restaurant in October. There are only a few seats left, call 732-7011.
We learned last week that Clinton was once known as "Schooltown," but many people also referred to it as Hockeytown. This was the hometown of the famous Clinton Comets, a semi-professional Hockey team that dominated the semi-professional Eastern Hockey League in the 1960's and early 1970's.

Ed Stanley was the greatest fan to have "never set foot on skates." The arena was his dream and his legacy is a community whose heart and soul is hockey.

to create custom pieces. He like his furniture to be used and believes

Clinton Academy of Performing and Creative Arts
"Schooltown" has a new school. The Academy of Performing and Creative Arts opened this fall on Taylor Ave in Clinton. It is the dream of founder, Jovita Bernard-Copeland, to have students of various creative disciplines under one roof so they can grow and learn from one another. From Hip Hop and Ballroom dancing to private instrument lessons, writing, and martial arts, its all at the new Academy of Performing and Creative Arts. Call 853-7309.

For over 160 years, the Clinton Courier Newspaper has kept the community well informed. Chuck and Cynthia Kershner had always wanted to own a small-town newspaper and the beautiful Village of Clinton is what attracted them to the Courier.

Since 1914, O'scugnizzo's pizza has been a local favorite. The newest location is off of College Street in Clinton. Owner, Karla Conley, says she wouldn't dream of touching the world famous recipe.

Fine dining is alive and well in Clinton at Nola's Restaurant on West Park Row. Jansen Fay was chef at the Alexander Hamilton before he and his wife opened Nola's, named for their three children.
The beautiful Kirkland Town Library was originally built as a Fraternity House for Sigma Phi. Sigma Phi is the oldest social fraternity in
continuous existence.
Little is known about it
as it is a secret society,
but we've heard they
still return to the library's
tower every year.
