We did it! We reached the top of Tassell Hill. Actually, the 4-wheel drive Chevy made it easy, but no less exciting. DO NOT attempt to go there unless you have a good truck you don't mind getting dirty! Although we heard that you can see a 360 degree view from here, the spruce trees have grown up so much that there is scarcely a place to get a good view.
Thank you for telling your friends and neighbors about our additional timeslot at 10am. It's a big hit! We've also heard from some viewers who have made it a routine to not only visit the restaurants featured on the show, but to actually order the same food! Thanks again for spreading the news of our show. We are thankful to be able to keep bringing you the best of living in the Mohawk Valley. Remember, you can tune in Saturday morning during WKTV's 9am news for a Sneak Preview of Sunday's show!

behind the Vineyards of Italy, but not the tradition of winemaking. Malio remembers making wine with his family each fall. Although the East Utica tradition of winemaking is, for the most part, in the past, Malio had the privilege of making wine with friends who own a small vineyard in Sauquoit.

Our journey has taken us along the Sauquoit Creek to Chadwicks (or is it Willowvale?) Many of the people who live here are descendents of the farmers and millworkers who settled along the fertile banks of the creek during the 1800 and 1900s. Although many of the mills are gone, some are being utilized by new businesses. Mohawk Ltd. saw the potential in these amazing buildings.
Formerly a bleachery that processed linens for the war and even the sheets for the White House, the old factories on Bleachery Ave. are now home to Mohawk Ltd.

were up to at the nature preserve. Peggy is finishing up a quilt for her daughter and also working on rustic brooms, a popular (and useful) decoration for the Halloween season. There are many craft workshops during their Saturday morning session from 10:30 to noon.
With the colder weather upon us, we wondered what Tim & Peggy
The train station for the DL&W in Chadwicks has been beautifully restored and now serves as a community room.
Tassell Hill
We traded in our Saturn for a Chevy 4x4 and we're glad we did. We took Tassell Hill Rd. off of White St., near Waterville. This is the highest elevation in Oneida County and also where the Sauquoit Creek begins (near Lincoln Davies)
A 1965 aeriel photo of Tassell Hill (courtesy of the DEC, Region 6 in Herkimer) still show signs of the words Tassell Hill written in spruce tress planted by a farmer. Enhanced by the color yellow.
Polly Blunk's Gallery and Studio is aptly named, Landmark. She paints pictures of historic buildings and barns, many of which no longer exist. She preserves them forever in her paintings. You can see some of her work at the Clayville Library or make an appointment to tour her gallery 830-5548.
We weren't the only ones to know of Joan's Diner's famous chicken & biscuits. It seemed the whole town turned out for this local favorite.
