The City of Sherrill's history begins with the Oneida Community. This group of Christian "Bible communists" created Oneida Community, Ltd., and Sherrill grew out of  the community's belief that workers deserved a community of their own.
Oneida Community
Members of the Oneida Community were encouraged to read and expand their knowledge. Many went off to college and traveled the world and then returned to share their knowledge with the community. Theodore Skinner was a child of the community and returned from college as an architect and designed many buildings in the Sherrill area, including the Skinner Block, part of which remains and is considered to be America's first "shopping center."
Giles Wayland-Smith's grandfather, Theodore Skinner, designed the first "strip mall."
Read an article about the Oneida Community and watch a slide show narrated by Wayland-Smith for the New York Times. CLICK HERE

Ebeneezer's Cafe and Creamery
Ebeneezer's Cafe is no secret to the people of Sherrill. They have a bustling lunch crowd and on Friday and Saturday nights, Chef Joel pulls out the stops for some fine dining. Open every day for lunch except Sunday and open Fri & Sat for dinner. In the Skinner Block on Sherrill Rd. in Sherrill.
Oneida Community Golf Club
The Oneida Community Golf Club was previously owned and operated by Oneida Ltd, and was used only for company employees and guests. Now you can play an historic course that only a select few golfers have for over 100 years.
