This week we got to enjoy spring in the beautiful countryside west of Rome. In the rural areas of Annsville, it's easier to imagine what it was like for the early settlers of this region. This was the land of the Oneidas, who valued the plentiful salmon from the creek that ran through here -rightfully known as Fish Creek.

Every spring, "when the leaves on the trees were the size of a fox's ear," a member of every family of the Oneida tribe would meet where the east and west branches of Fish Creek met. This was the annual Fishing Feast and was a very important annual event for the
Oneidas. Salmon were plentiful
before dams and canals inhibited
their migration.
John W. Bloomfield
Annsville's first settlers, John Bloomfield and his wife Ann, built the house that still stands across from Annsville Elementary

"Mine, is a body of work, created through a manifestation of personal experiences. Throughout my life during times of trial and tribulation, my emotions have a strong kinetic component. If I contemplate each emotion, I can see them. The challenge has been to create these images into works of art while maintaining the emotional and kinetic response."
