Holly Woodworking
Will Hollister grew up visiting his uncle's shop. He visited for the same reason thousands of people have been visiting each year since 1957, to pick out a matchbox car or some new moccasins.  He and his wife, Andrea, are carrying on the family tradition. Will enjoys woodworking with guidance from Little Tree, one of the helpful elves.
FT Proctor Park
Spend some time with Mom this week, visit one of the many beautiful parks in the area. F.T. Proctor Park, named for Frederick T. Proctor, this large city park of 500 acres was donated to the city of Utica by the Proctor family in 1923. The famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, who designed Central Park in New York City, was instrumental in designing this park.  A beautiful new children's play area right next to Culver Avenue is one of the results of a recent facelift.

History, Architecture, and Cheese
The earliest settlers of the area were involved in river trade and the commerce associated with the portage or carry, around the rapids. Little Falls was the site of several frontier industries during the 18th century, including a saw mill, grist mills and a foundry at the mouth of Furnace Creek. A cheese
exchange was established and in the years 1853 - 1875,
Little falls was cheese market to the Nation.

Katie Lyon, President of the Little Falls Historical Society, invites you to take a walking tour of the city's architecture. Little blue guidebooks are available throughout the city. The Museum opens for the season May 29.

Moss Island at Lock 17
A visit to Moss Island is fun for the whole family. You might catch some boats going through Lock 17, until recently, the largest lift lock in the world. (40.5 feet!) You can explore the island's many "potholes" created thousands of years ago. You can get to Moss Island from Canal Place or from Rt. 169 South-follow signs to Lock 17.
Hansen "Tea" Island
If you drink Salada or Red Rose Tea, it came from Little Falls. Redco Foods is located on Hansen Island and produces both teas. Salada Tea is known for its "Tag Lines," little quotes printed on the tags to ponder while your tea steeps. Red Rose is known for its figurines hidden inside of each box.
