Otsego Golf Club
About a mile and a half from Route 20, on Route 80, is one of the country's oldest golf clubs, Otsego Couty Golf Club.  Composed of nine holes, the OGC was laid out in 1894 by members Henry Wardwell and Arthur Ryerson, whose great-grandson still runs the place. The OGC rolls along the northern edge of Lake Otsego, affording water views from six of the nine holes
Arthur Clarke grew up on the Otsego Golf Course. His grandfather was one of the founders of the PGA.
God's country -the farmland of Route 20
Northern Otsego County has long been recognized for its productive farms. As you travel along Rt. 20 you see fruitfulfields and stuffed silos. Clinton Camp, on Fassett Rd., is a 3rd generation farm run by the Fassett brothers. Kermit Fassett says they recently sold off their dairy cattle; he now supplies feed to local farmers. His wife says he is popular with the local Amish community because they like his service. A young Amish boy who works for Kermit
has his sights set on the property
for a horse farm. Kermit smiles and
says he'll need a bigger piggy bank!
Springfield Center
When you enter Springfield the sign says its, "The place to be on the 4th of July!" The village is home to one of the nation's oldest 4th of July parades. It's the ultimate small-town America parade and is a celebration of true American spirit from proud marching veterans to high school marching bands. This year's Grand Marshall is Kermit Fassett's wife, Irene, in appreciation for her 50 years as church organist.

In the classic Route 20
tradition, the Tunnicliff
Creamery is a "glorified"
roadside ice cream stand
that also has a restaurant
and a garden center. The
owner, Ivan Fassett ifs nephew to Kermit Fassett of Clinton Camp farm.  The ice cream is homemade and their signature "quite by accident" flavor is the CWA -Cherry Walnut Amaretto.
Slow, Sweet Bread -an Italian Easter Tradition
At Caruso's
Cafe, Carmen
passes on his
knowledge
of making
breads and pastries the traditional Italian way. "Slow food" is becoming more and more popular in Europe and the U.S. as people begin to long for tradition. Italian Easter Bread (Casatiello) is braided sweet bread with eggs woven inside -a symbol of new life.
