Our trip to Lee was postponed this week because of the snowstorm Wednesday. Although, my boys were thrilled to have the day off from school! I love the snow, but filming is impossible with all the flakes landing on the camera lens. We did get a sneak peak at the new chandelier in the works at Meyda Tiffany!
Thanks for traveling with us,
Sharry and Lance

The Conspiracy
By the late 1800s, the railroad had become the preferred choice for transportation, leavinh NY's canal system in disrepair. Money allocated for maintenance led to a conspiracy that involved nearly every family in Foresport!
Jeannie Wolcott tells us how the conspiracy was concocted at Hotel Doyle, now Scooter's. Jeannie spearheaded Old Forestport Days last fall, to celebrate the arrival of the new North Country National Scenic Trail and to capture the history and shenanigan's of Forestport.
Lori Thompson wrote a song about the Forestport conspiracy. She performed it with Stump Hollow at Scooter's. You can order her new CD at www.tallcottonmusic.com
Michael Doyle published a book in 2004 about the Forestport conspiracy.

After 8 months of designing and planning, work is well underway on the new chandelier for the Stanley Theater. They're wrapping up the finishing touches and expect it to be ready for its world premiere sometime in April. At 35 feet in diameter and weighing over 3 tons, it will be the largest free hanging chandelier in the world.
You can visit East Utica for lunch and be swept away to Italy, Bosnia, South America, or Vietnam. The variety of ethnic cuisine in East Utica is wonderful. If you've never had Vietnamese food, give it a try. It might just become a favorite! Located at 601 John St, Utica
Each of the eight steel arms has a red glass-eyed dragon spiraling down it. Eight of these arms reach out from the chandelier.
The chandelier is designed in a Mexican baroque Moorish style to match the interior decor of the Stanley.
