We spend Father's Day in the country -the rolling hills of Floyd. The area must have felt like home to the Welsh immigrants who settled this area in the early 1800s. Today it is an area of large lawns, farmland, and quiet country living.
Happy Father's Day, Lance and Sharry

Road Trip to Floyd
Floyd is located East of Rome, NY on Route 365 (map it)
It consists of the hamlets, Camroden, East Floyd , Floyd, The Punch Bowl, and Steuben Valley. The Punch Bowl was the site of its first settlement. The Floyd Historical Society is located at Camroden Corners in the historic Presbyterian Church.
Camroden Corners is named for the Welsh word that means "the place of Welsh comrades"
The town was named for William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence
Across from the fire station is a memorial park in honor of veterans, firefighters and Lt. Stephen Moulton. This local hero of Floyd personally trained 950 men to fight in the American Revolution. Was appointed Lt. Col. by George Washington.

Keeping it Cool
in East Utica
On a hot day,
people in
East Utica
are on the
lookout for
the "iceman's"
umbrella. Just like
in the old days, he pushes a cart carrying a block of ice and then shaves off a cup full to top with your favorite flavor. Coconut seems to be a local favorite.
Alba Scott has a passion for architecture. She studied it in college and now it is the subject of her many of her paintings. She is well known in Clinton and Clinton is well known to her as it is often her subject.
