Holly Woodworking
Will Hollister grew up visiting his uncle's shop. He visited for the same reason thousands of people have been visiting each year since 1957, to pick out a matchbox car or some new moccasins. He and his wife, Andrea, are carrying on the family tradition. Will enjoys woodworking with guidance from Little Tree, one of the helpful elves.

Eastern Star Home
was built on the site of the Waterbury Estate. Henry Waterbury moved his family to Oriskany in the mid 1800's and built a felt mill on the site of a woolen mill, believed to be the 1st mill in America to manufacture fabrics from raw material.
The original Waterbury Mansion
Eastern Star Home was established on the site of the Waterbury Estate in 1916
Waterbury Felt Company has been operated at the same location in Oriskany since 1846. At one time it employed over 300 people. You can tour the facility be calling (315) 736-3016 and ask for Ginnie or Annie.
Waterbury Felt Company Yesterday and Today
Summit Park was built on the Oriskany Bluffs and opened on Memorial Day of 1897. Every day the park was open, thousands attended. Summit Park was very successful. The trolley system made the park accessible to people from all over the area, it had stops throughout Utica, Rome, Clinton, Frankfort, Ilion, Mohawk, Herkimer, and Little Falls. Among its attractions were a pavilion, an open air theater, amusement rides, ice cream parlors, an
observation
tower, a race-
track, penny
arcades, a
shooting gallery,
and facilities
for boat rides.

A book about Summit Park & one about Eastern Star are available at the Oriskany Museum
O'riskany? Molly O'Malley's Irish Pub on River Street in Oriskany may be Irish, but Richard enjoyed a delicious Reuben!

Archery in the Mohawk Valley
We visited a couple of the many archery places throughout the Mohawk Valley.
Rome Archery located on Floyd Ave in Rome has a women's league on Thursday nights. After an evening of target practice the women visit Buckey's Restaurant next door. Rome Archery will be hosting MVCC's summer archery classes for beginners and intermediate archers
Mountain Top Archery in Herkimer offers an indoor shooting range and the lastest all-digital interactive archery
Owner, Ted Borek helps us get set up. Archery is a safe, inexpensive family pasttime.
