The Scene Weekly
We enjoyed returning to Oriskany Falls this week. We strongly encourage you to take the drive along Valley Road from Oriskany Falls to Solsville. This scenic winding road takes you along the Oriskany Creek and the abandoned railroad and canal. You can see the old locks along the way and just before you reach Solsville you'll find a sparkling mill pond. Stop in to the Solsville Hotel and you'll be walking over a threshold of history.

                                                              Thanks for watching,

Oriskany Falls United Methodist Church
In 1858, the first Methodist minister was appointed to Oriskany Falls. In 1872, the present building was erected on Main Street. Today the bell tower of the Oriskany Falls United Methodist Church is a beautiful compliment to the village's silhouette.
George Tucker
We met Mr. Tucker, a very important man around Oriskany Falls. He loves the community as much as they love him. A book of his life, including words of wisdom to live by, is available for sale at the local C.W. Clark Memorial Library.
Mr. Tucker's book, Rural Renewal, is available at the library on Main St., Oriskany Falls.
When the Oriskany Falls library needed a bigger space, Mr. Tucker donated the building that was formerly a hardware store to the community's library.
Oriskany Falls
The Oriskany Creek was important for transportation and for water power. A former mill, now Covidien Healthcare, is actually built right over the creek.
Be sure to take the drive along Valley Road from Oriskany Falls to Solsville. The scenic, winding road takes you along the creek, abandoned canal and railroad bed. You will see remained of the old locks and right before you reach Solsville, you'll see a pretty mill pond.
Hotel Solsville
If the ride along Valley Road isn't enough, the journey takes you to historic, Hotel Solsville. When the hotel was built is a mystery, since the Loomis Gang burned the court house that held the records. You can sense the building's history and imagine what it was like back when it was surrounded by hops farms. Today, Brad Dixon, runs the
establishment, famous for its
steaks and 10 oz. cheeseburgers.
MV Living Viewers Special! Today only, 1/20/08, buy a dinner, get a free homemade dessert.
Open noon to 5pm
The historic Hotel Solsville was once surrounded by hops farms. The picture from the late 1800s shows the front porch covered with hops vines.
Custom Woodcraft
