Next week: What's new in Waterville
Take a deep breath in.... now slowly breathe out... ahhhh.
In today's fast-paced world it seems hard to slow down. This week we learn to relax in Washington Mills, home of Seven Petals Positive Transformation Center. We also learn a little about meditation at the Shawangunk Nature Preserve. With autumn in the air so early this year (and geese flying overhead), it reminds us to savor the sunny mornings and peaceful evenings of summer.
Thanks for traveling around the Mohawk Valley with us,
Sharry & Lance

In the Kitchen with Malio -Polenta
Polenta translates as corn meal mush, but it's much more. It's the staple food of northern Italy, where it still outshines pasta, and can be served in innumerable ways, as a first course, baked, with stews, or even as a bread substitute.
Washington Mills was once filled with mill houses housing the families of hundreds of workers of the mills that lined the banks of the Sauquoit Creek. The town was once called "Checkerville" because of a building painted in a checkboard pattern on the busy intersection of the village. We learned all about what was where and when from "The Mayor," Lewis H. Smith. He was given the nickname because of his dedication to the community and his knowledge of its history.
