Episode # 281 August 15, 2010
It's amazing the new things you learn even when visiting a town you been to dozen times before. We knew about Asa Gray, the famous botanist born in Paris, NY, but we didn't know it was also home to David P. Oakerhater, (O-kuh-ha-tuh) a Cheyenne Indian warrior and spiritual leader, who became an artist and Episcopal deacon in Paris and the first Native American Anglican Saint. Also born in Paris was Gerrit Judd, one of the founders of the prestigious Punahou School in Hawaii. A few years ago we attended the wedding of Lance's brother on the Punahou campus and had no idea that one of its founders was born right "next door" back home! The Punahou School is  the alma mater of Barack Obama.
