Canals, Cheese and Glass Factories
Much of the early economy of this region was based around agriculture, cheese production and the glass factories. The museum, located next to the town offices on Germany Road, is brimming with artifacts including "end of the day" glass, creative sculptures mill workers would make with the leftover glass at the close of the work day.
The glass factory workers lived in houses built by the factory owner. They were also paid, in part, by the factory's own money call shinplasters.

The City of Sherrill's history begins with the Oneida Community. This group of Christian "Bible communists" created Oneida Community, Ltd., and Sherrill grew out of the community's belief that workers deserved a community of their own.
