with Mark Werchowski
Summer is winding down, but what a glorious week of
weather! Our son is entertaining a visitor from Colorado this
week and asked "how am I to compete with the Rockies?" I
told him not to worry, that his hometown has plenty of offerings
unique to this area. His guest is a voice major so they attended
an opera at Glimmerglass, they spent a couple days kayaking
with friends in the Adirondacks, they visited East Utica and
enjoyed a Vietnamese lunch and a cannoli and espresso dessert at Cafe Caruso. They  visited the Farmers Market in Clinton, and the Clinton Arts and Music Festival on Saturday. After their whirlwind week he was pretty proud of his Mohawk Valley.

Buttermilk Falls
If rock climbing is an extreme sport in your opinion, you can choose to hike to pretty little buttermilk falls. There are trail to the bottom or through St. Mary's Cemetery to the top. Be careful, the bottom trail is a bit rough because of the stream being dredged after the flood last year. Travel to Top Notch Rd. from West Monroe, the trail is behind the old public swimming pool.

On most days you'll find Johnathan Woodward at work in his studio/gallery on Utica Street in Clinton, but on these beautiful summer days he prefers to work in 'plein air.' You'll find him at the Clinton Farmers Market or a festival surrounded by curious children.
