Spring's a great time to visit Cooperstown. You'll meet the locals and get to stroll the quiet downtown before it gets inundated with baseball fans. Take a walking tour of the many historic sites and stop into the shops, bakeries, and bookstores.
Clubman's Barbershop is tucked away on Devereaux Street in Eart Utica amis downtown's tall buildings. Barber, Carmen Cardarelli learned the trade from his father back when a shave and a haircut was two bits!

Bassett Healthcare: the Vision of Mary Imogene

The history of Basset Healthcare began with the
vision of one woman. At a time when few women
found recognition in medical careers, Dr. Mary
Imogene Bassett distinguished herself early. She
was only 31 when she graduated from the Woman's
Medical College of Pennsylvania. After the death
of her mother in 1893, she turned to a rural general
practice in Cooperstown with her aging father. After
his death she continued alone and had a very active
practice in and around Cooperstown. She was a
beloved, dedicated physician who was called
"Dr. Molly" by many of her patients
Today, Bassett Healthcare has more than 2,500 employees and see a half million patients a year
The Cooperstown Diner
The Cooperstown Diner is nestled right on Main Street Family owned, this small-town diner offers big-time hearty, home-cooked meals. They're so small, we only have 1/2 an address, but they'll always find room to fit you in, no matter what the season! You're sure to meet regulars who don't even need to order -the staff knows: "the usual."
The smallest diner we've even seen has the biggest burgers we've ever eaten (tried to anyway)

William Cooper was born near Philidelphia in 1754, the son of British Quaker parents. In 1785 acquired a large tract of land in the vicinity of Otsego Lake. The area would be named Cooperstown in his honor.
Judge William Cooper
Cooperstown was named for its founder, Judge William Cooper, not James Fenimore Cooper as many believe. The judge was his father.
Christ Episcopal Church
In 1806, Judge Cooper set aside a tract of land for the construction of a church following these rites. Construction of the new church began in 1807. It was consecrated on July 8, 1810.  The first window on the right in the church  is an authentic Tiffany. Louis Comfort Tiffany used opalescent glass in varieties of color and textures to create a unique style of stained glass. This can be contrasted with the traditional method of painting on colorless glass.
Unlike painted stained glass windows, the color in Tiffany windows is inside the glass
Christ Episcopal Church at 46 River St. is 200 years old
Cooper Family Cemetery
In the churchyard is the Cooper family plot. The most famous tomb is that of James Fenimore Cooper. A simple marble marker bears his name and dates of his birth and death. Also buried in the family plot is a freed slave who served Judge William Cooper.
James Fenimore is buried in the Cooper plot in the churchyard.
Cooperstown Cheese
Cooperstown Cheese Company is located just South of Cooperstown at 107 Oxbow Rd in Milford. They create Northern Italian hard and semi-hard natural rind cheeses including Toma. All of the Toma brand cheeses use hormone free milk from Lester Tyler's Sunny Acres Farm
