Feature Artist -Sculptor, John von Bergen

John von Bergen, of Clinton, creates abstract and volumetric bronzes in his studio built in an old, abandonded quarry in Clinton.
"My sculpture mostly derives from the marine environment, landscape, the figure, and the physical forces of nature. Repeated linear bronze elements, cast in foundry sand, are pieced together suggesting three dimensional drawings of volumetric objects intended to create a tension between abstraction and representation."
You can't help but sense the importance of tradition and friendship when you visit East Utica. The Proctor Boys meet each week over coffee to discuss everything from politics to the first spring robin sighting. Although they get together for fun and friendship, they also do good things for the com- munity, like raising money for important causes.
