Lok-N-Logs, Inc. really began over three-quarters of a century ago, when Charles Webb, grandfather of Lok-N-Logs founder, Jim Webb, founded Webb & Sons, which became one of the area's largest retailers of milled hard and soft woods. Jim Webb took his knowledge of the lumber industry and in 1974 began exploring opportunities for working with log structures.

In 1975 Lok-N-Logs provided the logs for the restoration of Fort Stanwix in Rome, NY. This was the first of three major fort restorations. The production of log homes seemed a natural progression. To date over 4,000 Lok-N-Logs structures can be found throughout the United States, Canada, Wales, Japan, France and South Africa.
Sherburne Public Library
The Sherburne Public Library began in 1909, with money from the Pratt family for the building and from D.H.G. Newton and others for the land. The architect was Edward L. Tilton of New York City, and the master Workman was M. James Wilson of Rome, NY. The building was a gift to the town with the requirement that it only be used as a library. It opened its doors in 1911.
