Holly Woodworking
Will Hollister grew up visiting his uncle's shop. He visited for the same reason thousands of people have been visiting each year since 1957, to pick out a matchbox car or some new moccasins.  He and his wife, Andrea, are carrying on the family tradition. Will enjoys woodworking with guidance from Little Tree, one of the helpful elves.

Sharry's back from a vacation with her oldest son, Vincent. Hopefully our audience didn't noticed she was gone, (except website visitors -as she's the one who updates it every week) After all our trips to East Utica learning about our area's Italian heritage and because our eldest has wanted to see Venice since he was five, the two of them visited Italy for 2 weeks. Although they are not Italian, they certainly became Italian in Italy -enjoying Italian cuisine, gelato, touring olive groves, vineyards, and lemon orchards and joining the evening's passeggiata. On their journeys they stayed with different families throughout Italy who opened their homes and helped them better understand Italian culture and traditions. Sharry's glad to be back home and eager to get back to Mohawk Valley Living.

Road Trip to Inlet
Inlet is just 10 minutes north of Old Forge. There is beautiful Arrowhead Park which has a boardwalk and sandy public beach there are free concerts on Saturday nights.
A taste of Italy in the Adirondacks! Sharry and Vincent found out that it's true -Italians love their gelato, they sampled many different flavors in Italy, you can experience the same delicious treat in Inlet. Northern Lights has authentic gelato and many people are discovering their lighter, homemade version too! You can sample their daily array of fresh flavors, just ask "un assaggio, per favore?" (a taste please?)
Pedals and Petals
Work off those extra calories biking in Inlet.
Check out Pedals and Petals website for area trails.
Great Camp Albedor
The Great Camps of the Adirondacks are always favorite places to visit. Last year we visited the Great Camp Sagamore, this year we visited Albedor. You can visit too, just click here.
Col. E. A. Simmons named the great camp for his three daughters - "Al" for Aileen, "Be" for Betty, and "Dor" for Doris.
Join "La Passeggiata" in Clinton.
You can experience the feeling of an evening in Italy by joining the Village of Clinton's weekly Summer Stroll on Thursday nights, (blue shirt and khakis are optional). Clinton's shops stay open late until 9pm with sidewalk entertainment and refreshments.

Richard was completely surprised when
fellow Clintonians dressed in his trademark
blue shirt and khaki pants. Clinton Chamber
president, Ferris Betrus, was the instigator.
Sharry and Vincent experienced some great fresh food in Italy and noticed that no matter how big or small an Italian's plot, it had a garden. They were amazed at the terraced crops on the sides of cliffs that  seemed to utilize every square inch. Malio tells us
how that tradition
continued when
families
immigrated to
East Utica. He
especially remembers
spending summers
bean picking.
