What a beautiful week of summer!? If you haven't made it up to Lyons Falls, today's a perfect day -and you might catch some brave kayakers at Agers Falls. Just follow Laura Street past Otis Technology and look for signs on you left. It's a mile or so. Also be sure to visit the falls in Lyonsdale as well. The falls are right near Burrows Paper Company and Lyonsdale Biomass.
Thanks for traveling with us,
Sharry and Lance

Spring is here at last. It's hard to believe fishing season opened just 3 weeks ago -it already feels like summer! Malio tells us a fish story from when he was a boy in East Utica
Lyman R. Lyon was an early pioneer of Lewis County. Lyman built a large barn in hopes of becoming a farmer. It was begun in 1859, before the Civil War. It wasn't finished until 1868 because Lyman, a strong abolitionist, encouraged his workers to join the Union Cause. Lyman R Lyon died April 7, 1869. His large timber estate was left to his three daughters, Mary L. Fisher, Julia J. deCamp and Florence L. Merriam.
Florence Lyon & C C Merriam and Mary Lyon & Wm. Hubbell Fisher
The grand homes of the Lyon sisters can still be seen today. Florence and Mary's homes were built side by side connected by a bridge with views of the falls. Florence's "Florissante," is now the Mansion B&B, and Mary's home "The Pines" is on the National Register. They are located at 4036 Lyons Falls Rd. Julia's home is now the deCamp Family Bed & Breakfast in Thendara. Julia Lyon deCamp gave 30,000 acres for a Wilderness Park.
